About Tenant Rights Map: Sources and Contact

Tenant Rights Map is a free, plain-English guide to renters’ rights in every US state: security deposits, repairs, landlord entry, notices, evictions, rent increases, late fees, retaliation and illegal lockouts. For each state we explain the rules from official sources, and we offer free tools: a deposit return calculator, a deposit demand letter, a repair request letter and an eviction notice timeline.

We are not a law firm and not a government agency, and we don't represent anyone. We link to official sources: state statutes, attorneys general, state housing and consumer agencies and court self-help centers. If you have an eviction notice or court papers, contact legal aid or your court's self-help center right away.
